Present in the Country since 1997, the AES Brasil Group is comprised of seven companies that operate in the sectors of electric power generation, distribution, trade and telecommunications.

In 2009, the AES Brasil Group made its major investment ever: R$ 770 million (please refer to table at the side for the company investments). Most of its resources were designed for the maintenance, expansion and modernization of the electric power distribution system and for AES Eletropaulo and AES Sul customer service.

At the end of 2009, the seven AES Brasil Group companies posted EBTIDA of R$ 3,2 billion and net profit of R$ 1,9 billion. There are about 7 million customers counting on the services that are provided with safety and quality and more than 12 thousand co-workers of their own and contracted in their workforce.

All the AES Brasil Group companies, except for AES Sul that is fully controlled by AES, comprise the Companhia Brasiliana de Energia holding, made up of AES Corp. that holds 50.01% of the voting capital, and of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), with 49.99% of the voting capital.
